Learn About the Movement to Win Our Survival

You can help build the leadership, survival strategies and economic power
that our movements need to win.

The outcome of the struggle for survival will be determined by the people, trained leaders, and community-owned capital that our movements have access to.

Climate Mobilization Project is helping our movements gather the members, leaders, and economic strategies that we need to win.

Pilot climate survival programs that
expand access to basic necessities and grow the movement

Incubate regenerative, local solidarity economy
and climate resilience projects

Resource BIPOC youth leaders’ vision for a national climate survival movement

Build up a “movement of movements” that unleashes our movements’ collective power

Our Pilot Programs in 2024-2025

In Kentucky, survival means tornado and chemical leak preparedness; protection from right-wing violence; and access to community news

Daisy Carter, our Kentucky Movement Incubation Coordinator, shares how we are working with 25 organizations and leaders across Kentucky to build an ecosystem of survival programs that meet people’s day-to-day needs while growing the movement for climate justice.

In Las Vegas, survival means job training & business ownership for formerly incarcerated residents; community-owned farms and stores; and an end to food apartheid

Alaric Overbey, the Chief Operating Officer of Green Side Up Farms, shares how Green Side Up and Climate Mobilization Project are building up a Black-led vertical farming ecosystem, economic self-determination and grassroots leadership on Las Vegas’ disinvested West Side.

In Richmond, survival means a 100-acre farm that grows food sovereignty and reconnects young BIPOC movement leaders with the land

Zakaria Kronemer, the founder of Rhizome, shares his work with Climate Mobilization Project to launch Dogbane Movement Hub, a training center and skill-building laboratory for incubating climate survival programs. The survival programs we are currently piloting at Dogbane use food, farming skills training, and cooperative development to grow the climate justice movement. Because of Dogbane Movement Hub, movement leaders are developing food and land sovereignty strategies to strengthen the movement for our survival.

About Us

Climate Mobilization Project is a 501(c)3 non-profit founded in 2015 working collaboratively with The Climate Mobilization to grow the movement for a just, emergency-speed mobilization to save our planet. No one is stepping up to make the urgent changes required to save us. All of us must take this on. We have to take back our future.

We have organized tenants and won protections for working-class folks at the frontlines of the housing crisis; sparked hundreds of transit riders to participate in a victorious campaign that won millions of dollars for fare free transit for youth; and facilitated intensive coaching for 43 community groups that transformed their impacts in their communities.

Since our founding, Climate Mobilization Project has achieved a paradigm shift in climate politics. Moving society away from thinking about “climate change” to instead responding to the “climate emergency” — which requires immediate attention to survive — has resulted in more than 1 in 10 people on the planet living in a city, state or other jurisdiction that has declared a climate emergency.

Our Team

We are a small team, supported by highly dedicated volunteers. Our passionate staff has diverse expertise in movement building, policy campaigns, and communications. We rely on deep collaboration with our partners across the climate and environmental movement.

Climate Awakening is a program dedicated to unleashing the power of climate emotions through small group conversations. Led by clinical psychologist and climate activist Margaret Klein Salamon, we’re helping people transform themselves and their communities by turning climate grief, overwhelm or powerlessness into concrete political action.
